Molding Process TechnicianDepartment: Manufacturing Engineering
Reports To: FLSA: Non-Exempt
Shift: 2nd
Summary:
Responsible for
Molding Department shop floor support, new product introduction, molding process design and continuous improvement activities by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:
-
Works with production staff to maintain machine efficiency, scrap rate, and machine downtime at acceptable levels.
-
Maintains process control using SPC principles.
-
Performs troubleshooting of molding processes and secondary operations as necessary to support production.
-
Responsible for performing new mold tryouts and supporting the qualification process (IPV) to launch new and revised molding processes.
-
Designs injection molding processes using Scientific Molding principles, PFMEA, DOE, SPC, and the APQP process.
-
Responsible for ensuring the quality of all molding process related documentation including: setup sheets, assembly instructions, PFMEA, and equipment instructions.
-
Coordinates process and product deviations with supporting departments and ensures the completion of all required procedures and documentation.
-
Other duties as assigned.

Summary: This position researches, designs, develops, manufactures and tests components, products, and systems of electrical and electromechanical products. This position also may supervise the routine work of some technicians in the Engineering Department by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Designs electronics and electrical systems per customer specifications using analog and digital circuit design techniques.

Leads new designs from conception into production while working with a multi-discipline team.

Coordinates technical resources during product development and design.
-
Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.

Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
-
Plans and develops experimental test programs.
-
Confers with research and other engineering personnel to clarify and resolve problems and prepares design modifications as required.
-
Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
-
Directs and/or coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
-
Compiles and/or analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.

Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
-
Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses.

Conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions for vacant position within the Engineering Department.

Trains employees within the Engineering Department.

Plans and assigns the work of subordinate Engineering Department employees.

Addresses all employee complaints and grievances and works to resolve issues.
Education and/or Experience:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus a minimum of six years related experience. Master’s degree a plus. Candidates for this position must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or functional area assignments and hold a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
