Delta History
In 1971, Delta founder James A. Barry embarked on a business venture built on a foundation of innovation and integrity. His dynamic business sense and vision turned an unprofitable company of 8 employees and 1800 square feet of space into a successful company of over 200 employees and 135,000 square feet of space.
Delta’s history began as a result of a merger between two companies: one a designer and builder of dental equipment and the other a custom designer and builder of electronic equipment. After the merger, the design and manufacturing focus transitioned to switches for select niche markets, mainly lawn and garden equipment. Switches became a significant segment of Delta’s overall business, and the line extended to include sealed switches for marine outboard motors.
In 1998, Mr. Barry studied with W. Edward Deming to understand how he could implement Deming’s management principles to increase business effectiveness. Deming’s theories were applied within the business, and Delta received certification to the QS-9000 quality management system. In addition, a highly successful transformational leadership program was launched, making Delta a leader in quality. In 2001, the company achieved ISO 9001 certification and continued to innovate, offering an expanded line of switches and electronics including: hourmeters, control modules, display units, mini-modules and custom electronic solutions. Delta continued to grow into a third product division, wireless/RF. The FreeRein® Wireless Control line offers the convenience of remote operation for motor control applications.
Delta Systems® remains a privately held, vertically integrated corporation providing quality assurance at each step of the design and manufacturing process. The Quality Management System incorporates Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and supports production part approval process requirements (PPAP). As an American-based business Delta offers the flexibility to quickly and efficiently deliver customized modifications, economical solutions and comprehensive customer support.
